Founded to sell: Emerging KC tech firm led by startup veterans announces $725K funding round

April 30, 2021  |  Startland News Staff

A Kansas City startup’s initial funding round is expected to help small businesses close more deals, faster, said Scott Hansen.

LeadSigma, a powerful and easy-to-use sales engagement platform, has raised a $725,000 family and friends round, Hansen, co-founder of LeadSigma, announced Friday. The round included prominent opinion leaders and agency owners in targeted SMB verticals, he added.

Built to be the most powerful sales automation tool for small businesses, LeadSigma functions as a software-driven sales assistant, creating immediate connections with prospects and facilitating a seamless and consistent sales process for every lead, the company said.

“While building our family’s orthodontic practice [Hansen Orthodontic Specialists in Lee’s Summit] into one of the fastest growing businesses in the country, it was always such a management challenge to ensure lightning-fast and consistent follow-up on our prospects,” Hansen said. “Lots of spreadsheets, cobbled-together tools, and management headaches. It shouldn’t be this way.”

“Small businesses need access to the same powerful tools that enterprise companies use,” he added.

The startup — which was named as a Digital Sandbox KC recipient in January — launched its product in February and the team has already grown locally to eight employees, said Hansen, who previously co-founded Lee’s Summit-based ProfessionalChats, which sold to Ruby Receptionists in 2018.

LeadSigma plans to use the funding announced Friday to continue building a world-class team who can build and sell an incredible product, the company said.

“Building a great product starts with building a great team,” said John Moses, chief technology officer and co-founder. “We have a unique opportunity to level the playing field for small businesses — allowing them to compete with world-class sales organizations. Seeing our product help close hundreds of thousands of deals already is great motivation.”

The startup’s founding team includes Hansen, Moses, who is a former senior engineer and architect for the Cerner Patient Portal, and Landon Young, former Kaufman Global Scholar and founder of World Help Solutions.

LeadSigma also announced Friday it is releasing text and email automation to make the sales process even more consistent and powerful for clients.
