Pegah’s expands its family of restaurants to Martin City with new faster-service concept

January 21, 2025  |  Joyce Smith

A locally owned restaurant chain is putting a drive-thru emphasis on breakfast with its newest location in Martin City — offering “hand foods” handed directly to hungry diners.

“We’re trying a fast-casual drive-thru focusing on coffee and beverages — tea and juices — and fast-casual meals,” said Rameen Sharifi, owner of Shawnee-based Pegah’s Family Restaurant. “We will have small breakfast meals, gourmet toast, and other exciting meals that will pair well with coffee.”

The new operation in Martin City — Pegah’s Cafe & Coffee — is expected to open in March at 13109 Holmes Road. The family’s four other restaurants across the metro focus on dine-in experiences.

They bought the freestanding Martin City building. It was formerly home to Ramsey’s Burgers, Penny’s Bakery and then P.S. Coffee & Drive-Thru.

The location’s new menu is still being fine-tuned, but breakfast will be served all day and include biscuits and gravy, avocado toast, breakfast burritos, skillets, and eggs and bacon.

Lunch and dinner items will include such handheld foods as sandwiches and wraps.

Hours are set for 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Sharifi’s father, Moe, founded Pegah’s Family Restaurant in 1987. The family now has two locations in Shawnee, as well as restaurants in Lee’s Summit and Lenexa, serving home-style foods such as burgers, tuna melts, fettuccine Alfredo, quesadillas, salads, and country fried steak.
