New platform GUILDit offers art entrepreneurs visibility
May 11, 2015 | Abby Tillman
A new program called GUILDit to promote and support art entrepreneurship is coming to Kansas City.
The program is a bi-monthly gathering where art entrepreneurs take the stage to give six-minute presentations followed by questions and answers in the hopes of crafting a stronger Kansas City art economy, and to further connections between local artists.
GUILDit is a new way of discussing art entrepreneurialism, according to the organization’s website. It provides an avenue for artists to collaborate with one another, share ideas, resources and best business practices. In many ways, the format is modeled after the popular 1 Million Cups events held at Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation every Wednesday morning, except these events are focused solely on featuring and connecting entrepreneurs in the art world.
The program will launch noon May 21 at the Kauffman Foundation. After that, the one-hour program will take place every first and third Thursday of the month at the Kauffman Foundation.
It’s free and open to the public. Artists, makers, art organizations and art related businesses interested in presenting at GUILDit may apply by clicking here.
