National conference series for digital entrepreneurs makes Kansas City debut

July 20, 2017  |  Meghan LeVota

Hundreds of social media gurus, marketing professionals and online entrepreneurs will gather in Kansas City for a two-day conference that will feature talks from executives at Salesforce, AOL, LinkedIn and more.

Organized by TechMedia, Digital Summit: Kansas City is part of a national conference series that has been connecting digital marketing professionals for ten years. Originally launched in Raleigh, N.C., Digital Summit is now hosted in 14 cities, such as Denver, Dallas and Los Angeles. The first event took place in in Raleigh, North Carolina.

2017 marks the first year Digital Summit will launch in Kansas City, which will take place at the Overland Park Convention center on July 26 and 27. Jamie Walking Bear, public relations coordinator at TechMedia, said that hosting the conference in Kansas City made sense.

“We’re always looking at cities whose business communities are thriving and on the upswing within the digital ecosystem,” said Bear. “When we looked at Kansas City as a potential new destination for the Digital Summit series, it checked off all the boxes. We look for cities with established and growing communities of digital marketers, strategists, tech early adopters, and engaged business leaders.”

Bear added that Digital Summit: Kansas City organizers are expecting the turnout to be promising.

“The response to the event so far has affirmed what an awesome community of doers and innovators you have there in Kansas City,” Bear said. “We’re expecting our largest first-year event ever in Kansas City drawing an audience of close to 1,000.”

The mission behind Digital Summit is to bring together leaders in digital marketing and online business to help them stay ahead of the curve, Bear said.

“The Digital Summit program is equally inspiring and full of tactical tips and takeaways for professionals from a wide variety of company sizes, industries and competencies,” Bear said. “We’re constantly paying attention to the rapid changes in marketing and technology. Over two days, we pack a lot of practical information into attendees’ brains, to keep their skills up to date and inspire new strategic possibilities within their companies.”

Bear said that the conference will attract professionals with a wide range of expertise — such as UX, design, data, SEO and social media strategy. If you are at all involved in the world of digital business, there is something for you, he said.

In additional to national headliners, executives from Kansas City-based companies such as the Kansas City Chiefs, Hallmark and H&R Block will be presenting speakers at the event. Topics include email list building, branding emerging trends, content marketing and more.

TechMedia, the organizers behind the Digital Summit series, has grown to be one of the largest producers of regional live events in this industry, hosting over 15,000 attendees per year. TechMedia also produces the Internet Summit and the annual Fusion Conference.
