The Marketing Series: Public Relations for Entrepreneurs
When: October 5 @ 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
Where: Sprint Accelerator
Learn more about the fundamentals of public relations, how to pitch a story or angle and how to build relationships with reporters. This workshop is presented by the Enterprise Center in Johnson County in partnership with the Sprint Accelerator. For a full list of ECJC workshops on topics like sales, marketing, raising capital, managing your books and building a strong business foundation.
First Wednesdays, Young Entrepreneurs Panel
When: October 5 @ 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
Where: Bloch Executive Hall, 5108 Cherry Street
Held on the first Wednesday of every month during the academic year, First Wednesdays provides an opportunity for students to connect with alumni and community members, including mentors, investors, and employers. Join us on October 5th for a panel of Kansas City young entrepreneurs discussing the question, “What can and should college students be doing right now?”.
The Budget Series: Building Financial Models that Win Investors and Grow your Business
When: October 6 @ 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
Where: Enterprise Center of Johnson County
A financial model is the quantification of your management decisions. It is a way to demonstrate to potential investors that you aren’t just a ….(fill in the blank: developer, product person, etc.) and that you understand how to manage your company and how making a decision in one area of your business will impact other areas. This workshop will cover:
– Financial projections – one output of your financial model.
– 3 common misconceptions about your financial model.
– Common tactical mistakes entrepreneurs make when building a financial model.
Social Media Club Kansas City: October Breakfast
When: October 7 @ 7:30 am – 9:00 am
Where: Enterprise Center of Johnson County
Join us October 7 to hear from social media managers from around the nation visiting Kansas City for the second annual Brand Socialites Summit. Who are Brand Socialites? They’re the voices behind the brands you know online, gathered together in a peer-run and managed professional group that includes nearly 200 community managers, digital marketing directors, VPs of Social and more. Founded in 2010, Brand Socialites meet up at SXSW and various social marketing conferences throughout the year, and they connect daily through an online community to exchange best practices, compare experiences with different tools, platforms, vendors and agencies, and share highlights, lowlights, tips and insights. Moderated by Jake Jacobson of Children’s Mercy, our national panelists will share perspectives and advice that can benefit social media managers of all experience levels at any size organization.
