Lean Startup Weekend Conference – Livestream
When: November 2 @ 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Where: Black & Veatch World Headquarters
Join us as we beam the conference directly from San Francisco to our World Headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas, Noon – 5 p.m., 2 November and Noon – 5 p.m., 3 November. During this event, you’ll hear from world-renowned speakers and have the opportunity to discuss and network with fellow entrepreneurs from the Kansas City area. Whether you’re new to Lean Startup methods or have been putting these practices to use in your organization, this event promises to educate, inform, and inspire. The Lean Startup method is one of the exact methods Black & Veatch’s Growth Accelerator team uses to launch new businesses.

First Wednesdays with Barnett Helzberg
When: November 2 @ 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Where: UMKC Bloch Executive Hall
Join us on November 2nd to hear first-hand how Barnett C. Helzberg, a local legend and author of “What I Learned Before I Sold to Warren Buffet”, built a small family-owned company into an empire. Held on the first Wednesday of every month during the academic year, First Wednesdays provides an opportunity for students to connect with alumni and community members, including mentors, investors, and employers.

Social Media Club November Breakfast
When: November 4 @ 7:30 am – 9:00 am
Where: Grand Street
How does social media impact search engine rankings? Does social factor into SEO strategy? What the heck are “social signals?” There are seemingly endless questions surrounding the impact of social on search and we’ll tackle them in this session by separating fact from fiction and by detailing the relationship between the two. We’ll go through best practices and advanced strategy getting us to the important factors that every SMM and SEO should be aware of.

Entrepreneurial Sales Workshop: How to Get Deals Done
When: November 4 @ 8:30 am – 12:00 pm
Where: Woodneath Library Center
Step up your sales game at this dynamic workshop with help from a team of experienced entrepreneurs, sales trainers and library professionals. Join us to hear The Roasterie’s Danny O’Neill, Anne Cull of ThinkViral and Jeff Shackelford of Digital Sandbox discuss the unique challenge of selling as an entrepreneur on a panel moderated by Dan Stalp, followed by breakout sessions on important sales topics.

Where: Think Big Coworking
HatchPad Engage! Kansas City @Think Big Coworking is where young entrepreneurs, inventors, and creators under the age of 25 meet like-minded peers and established business leaders and have the opportunity to build their network, collaborate and turn great ideas into successful businesses. Each Engage! networking event features two to three speakers including student entrepreneurs, experienced startup founders, investors, and corporate leaders.
