ArtsKC launches new online guide to arts, cultural events

June 2, 2017  |  Bobby Burch

ArtsKC is offering residents in the region a new digital resource that hopes to grow engagement at area arts and cultural events.

On Friday, the regional nonprofit organization launched ArtsKCGo.com, an online guide that features information on art, music, theater, dance, film, festivals and other cultural events in the area.

Already with hundreds of events listed, the free service allows users to search events by keyword, category, organization, venue or city in the region. It also highlights marquee events in coming weeks on its landing page via a “top ten” list. The web guide allows users also to upload events, their organization or venue.

In addition to an events guide, ArtsKC plans to add other components to the website, including an artist directory, public art directory, arts education resource and a classifieds section to list items such as local auditions.

Founded in 2007, ArtsKC’s mission is to promote, support and advocate for the arts in the five-country region of Clay, Platte and Jackson counties in Missouri, and Johnson and Wyandotte counties in Kansas. Dana Knapp serves as ArtsKC’s president and CEO.

Among its programs are the ArtsKC Fund, which has invested grants in more than 150 arts organizations and nearly 200 artists. The ArtsKC Fund has made more than 900 grants, with a $3.8 million impact overall. ArtsKC also offers Now Showing, a program matching local artists looking to show their work in corporate spaces.
