Crisis Communications in a Social Era

In an age of instant, digital communications, you can’t afford to have the wrong crisis communications approach. Honesty and transparency are key to preserving your company brand and reputation. Morningstar Communications vice president Tricia McKim and account executive Brian Van Note will share tips for crisis communications planning and management. Second Fridays is a casual, fun gathering for the startup community to connect on a monthly basis with no agenda except good times. We’ll provide games & cards (bags if it’s nice). This event is BYOB with a twist – bring a 6-pack of your favorite beer to share and we’re going to have a “beer potluck” cooler. We’ll ice down everyone’s beer and have quite the selection to choose from. Get to know someone over a brew!

Coding and Cocktails September

Session Topic: Introduction to Node: Server-side javascript. Join us for our monthly coding series, Coding & Cocktails. Women are invited to attend sessions to get an introduction to website building in a fun, laid-back atmosphere. We’ll introduce you to Node, discuss why you would want to use it along with practice with support from our fantastic mentors!

The Power of Inventing

Where: Kauffman Foundation Conference Center – Town Square Room
“The Power of Inventing: How to invent, protect, and maximize your creativity” Presented by: The US Inventors’ Project and The Ennovation Center. A one-day symposium on developing creatively while protecting intellectual property assets. Featuring Inventors who have been-there, done that very successfully, and experts who know how to assist from idea to innovation.

Make 48
When: October 28 – 30
Where: Kansas City Art Institute
Teams apply and compete to develop a new commercial product idea in a 48 hour invent-a-thon weekend. 48 hours to plan, prototype and pitch an idea for prizes and licensing potential.
