Bardavon founder moves to board as company promotes new CEO from its C-suite

Matt Condon and Alex Benson, Bardavon

Matt Condon spent the past decade driving Bardavon Health Innovations from an idea to where it is today, the healthtech founder said, but the path forward requires another leader — one with a unique set of skills and abilities.

Bardavon on Monday announced Condon’s move from the CEO role at the company to its board of directors, with former chief operating officer Alex Benson transitioning to the top executive position. Benson — previously an executive at Cerner before his hire at Bardavon in 2022 — most recently was responsible for all client facing and operational support teams, network management, sales and strategic planning.

“This unique set of skills were why we hired Alex over two years ago, and why he was almost immediately identified as a strong choice to be my successor,” Condon said in a blog post announcing the change. “He brings a remarkable intellect, an intense drive, and (most importantly) a relentless commitment to Bardavon’s mission and vision. His upward path at Bardavon was fast — but equally earned — as he led from the start with indifference to the various titles he has had during these past two years.”

“Now, in his new role as CEO, Alex will use those talents and abilities that have defined his history to guide Bardavon as we incorporate new solutions into our platform and partner with an expanding list of industry leaders,” he continued.

Over the past 10 years, Condon led the company through a series of significant accomplishments, Bardavon said in a release, particularly in establishing the importance of clinical outcomes across the Workers’ Compensation industry. Bardavon — which support employees’ musculoskeletal health with preventative and post-injury solutions — has grown into a national business platform, with a PT/OT network of more than 35,000 therapists covering all 50 states and clients representing Fortune 50 employers, national third-party administrators, and insurance carriers.

“Matt’s leadership has been instrumental in steering the company’s growth over the past 10 years, and I am honored to follow in his footsteps and build upon the foundation and legacy he established,” said Benson.

Condon is looking forward to a break, he said, which he expects will offer him a fresh perspective that allows him to contribute a new voice and outlook when the time is right.

“While I will be spending more time with my family and pursuing some projects that I have been developing over the last several years, I am excited for Bardavon and its future under Alex’s leadership, as I have profound confidence in Alex and his ability to carry this company forward,” Condon continued. “I will continue to offer my support and counsel to Bardavon, its board and its leadership team from this new perspective as it continues its mission to elevate the health and mobility of every worker — everywhere.”
