Confetti fell and hometown spirits rose Wednesday as the world champion Kansas City Chiefs returned from a stunning fight that earned them — and an estimated 1 million or more of their closest friends — the right to party.
The Chiefs’ Super Bowl win over the Philadelphia Eagles — the team’s third overall — marked a joyous occasion for Kansas Citians who called off work and school to cheer on NFL icons Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, along with busloads of their teammates, in a congratulatory parade and rally that painted more than two miles of the metro from downtown to midtown red.
Not only did the occasion serve as a point of pride for the city, it quickly revealed itself as an opportunity for entrepreneurs to show off their own talents.
Startland News had reporters stationed at various locations along the parade route to capture the one-of-a-kind experience on film.
