Windhaven Farms, Chemistry take 1 Million Cups stage

May 20, 2015  |  Abby Tillman

The seemingly disparate industries of agriculture and marketing were on display this week at 1 Million Cups with startups Windhaven Farms and Chemistry.

1MC may20Windhaven Farms founder Kristen Wolf first presented her local meat distribution company, which delivers an assortment of locally-raised, organically-grown meat products, including beef, pork, chicken and rabbit.

“The product is really, really different than conventional farmer’s meat,” Wolf said during her presentation. “The taste is different and the texture of the meat is different. All of my animals are out on grass and they’re raised without the use of hormones or antibiotics.”

The majority of her sales have come from wholesale accounts with restaurants passionate about serving local, organic meat. In order to reach a larger market, Wolf also created the Meat Buyer’s Club to sell directly to consumer.

“I’m differentiating myself by trying to be a little more accessible,” Wolf said while describing her buyer’s club.

Following Windhaven’s presentation was Mark O’Renick, founder of Chemistry. Chemistry is a web and tablet based platform that aligns marketing and sales organizations within a company.

“Well-aligned [sales and marketing] organizations see a 20 percent increase in annual revenue growth, higher return rates and higher retention rates,” said O’Renick.

To assist organizations in developing this alignment, Chemistry drives insightful, intelligent interaction, and is backed by a data analytics platform. It was developed with the philosophy that sales and marketing alignment should start with the customer experience, and support sales and marketing professionals in sharing materials in real time.

The team started development of their app in July 2014, launched a beta version in December 2014 and plans to launch version 1.1 soon. Chemistry is available in the app store, but to access it, a company has to become a partner. Chemistry also is working to integrate with SalesForce.
